After lots of prayer, you’re feeling that adoption is the right choice for you and your baby. But you might be wondering something like, “does anyone want my baby?” It’s a normal question that many women considering adoption ask.
If you are struggling with this question, the short answer is YES! Many hopeful adoptive couples have been praying for the blessing of parenthood. They are financially and emotionally ready to become parents through adoption and would love to adopt your baby.
There’s no doubt that choosing adoption for your baby is a tough decision. You may feel lonely during the adoption process. As a Christian, you know that God will lead you and help you along the way. He’s provided you with an adoption coordinator who is trained to help you and walk with you through every step of adopting your child. Talk to your adoption coordinator at Lifetime about your questions and concerns. She can encourage you that although this is a normal concern, it is rarely the case. There are many couples who want to adopt your baby into their family!
Hopeful Adoptive Couples
Some hopeful adoptive families are not able to have kids biologically. Others have children but have felt called by the Lord to grow their family by way of adoption.
No matter the reason, these couples hope to provide a good home for a child. You may be surprised to find out that the adoptive family is not only waiting to love and accept your child but also to love and accept you.
It’s Your Choice
The adoptive family who adopts your baby is always your choice. It’s a personal decision that only you can make. You can be sure that Lifetime Adoption has properly vetted every couple before they can become potential adoptive parent candidates.
You’ll be able to view the adoptive parent’s website and online adoption video. You can also request to receive adoptive parents’ profiles in the mail, within specific categories that you prefer. Your particular desires may include information about their:
- Cultural background
- Home type
- Hobbies or interests
- Other children they currently have
Your adoption coordinator will ask you questions to get an idea of what you’re looking for. She’ll only send you prospective adoptive family profiles that fit within these preferences. You can receive as many adoptive families’ profiles as you want before deciding.
As you pray and think about each profile, one may catch your eye. Tell your adoption coordinator so she can give you more information about the family. She can set up a face-to-face meeting or a conference call with the prospective adoptive family so you can get to know them better.
What if They’re Not Available?
Don’t be disheartened if you want to place with an adoptive family, but another birth parent has already chosen them. Lifetime works with couples in all stages of adoption, so there’s a good chance if one adoptive family falls through, another will come along. There are so many adoptive families looking to adopt children all across the United States.
You are free to look at adoptive family profiles without any commitment. There is no obligation on your part to proceed forward.
Take your time, pray, and seek God’s leading in your decision. Talk with your adoption coordinator if you feel discouraged. Remember, it sometimes takes more time than you expected, but that’s okay. There is an adoptive family who is hoping and praying to adopt your child. You will find them.
Every adoption has its own unique story. Your decision to place your child through open adoption will allow you to stay in touch with the adoptive parents and your child throughout his or her life. This future contact can be through emails, texts, phone calls, and sometimes visits. You can express your desire for the type of open adoption you want. It’s up to you to decide what you are comfortable with and how much contact you want.
As you move through the adoption process, remember that the Lord will lead you in choosing the right adoptive parents. He will provide the best home for your baby. This journey is all part of you and your child’s story. It’s a unique story that you will tell your child when they are older. Trust God that He will guide you to make the right decision to find the perfect family for your child.
Lifetime Adoption is always here to help you as you move through the adoption process. We’re just a phone call or text away at 1-800-923-6784.
