A Letter from Chris & Amanda
Hello! We are Chris and Amanda, and we are excited to be on the journey to adoption. We know that becoming parents will be the most incredible blessing and one on that comes with great honor and responsibility.
We are fully committed to doing everything possible to give a child a wonderful life. To us, that means a life filled with loads of love, faith and hope, family and friends, laughter, learning, unique experiences, traditions and big dreams. It is understanding that things aren’t always easy but knowing you can grow from challenges. It is seeing the beauty in differences and keeping an open mind. And lastly, wonderful is knowing that you are never alone, always supported, and forever loved.
What started as a phone call set up by Amanda’s brother (yes, he still proudly claims credit) is now 16 years of marriage. As you can imagine, we know each other inside and out as we have been through highs, lows and everything in between – together.
On weekends, you will find us visiting parks or the zoo, enjoying local events like festivals and parades, cheering on our favorite teams, volunteering in our community, or traveling(we never pass up an opportunity to explore). We are always ready for milkshakes or to try a new restaurant, but not to worry, we get our steps in to stay healthy. Our sweet dogs, Barkley and Baxter, definitely help with that. We also take time to relax at home which usually involves a movie and popcorn.
We have always dreamed of becoming parents through adoption. Our work with children has only strengthened our desire and inspired us to stay on the path to becoming mom and dad. We are ready for all the beautiful moments like first giggle, first step, and then ones like first date or first drive. We know there will be not so fun ones like sleepless nights and boo-boos, but we will be there with open arms for those too.
Chris is patient, kind, and the best listener. He finds strengths in others and uses those to help them succeed. This is what makes him an amazing teacher and friend. And these will also make him an incredible dad!
I often go with Chris to his various school events, and each time, I run into a parent who shares how grateful they are that Chris is their child’s teacher. Chris absolutely loves music and is looking forward to playing drums with a little one. What a joyful sound that will be!
Chris never passes up an opportunity to enjoy life and isn’t afraid to be silly and have a good time. And when it comes to technology and electronics, he seems to know how to use (and fix) all of it.
Amanda is caring, outgoing and organized. Making crafts and baking are two of her favorite things to do. She creates a new wreath for the front door each season and always has a project in the works. She is the person who shows up with festive treats for every holiday whether that’s Halloween or the 4th of July. She has such fond memories of baking with her grandmother and will be thrilled to have a helper of her own, so she can pass along the famous chocolate icing recipe.
Amanda will be an amazing mom! I have seen her in action – reading stories, singing songs, and turning tears into smiles. Not only is she loving and fun, her drive to work hard and make a difference set an outstanding example. She is a strong leader. I can absolutely see her using those skills with the PTA or serving as a room mom.
We call Alabama home, but the picture that is often painted of small town life in our state isn’t really the case for us. Instead, we are within minutes of a anything you could possibly need or want. However, there is still plenty of Southern hospitality. Our neighborhood is quiet, family-oriented and a great place for walks. We are only a street away from the elementary school. We also have parks nearby with nature trails, playgrounds and splash pads which will be perfect for weekend outings and fun with friends.
Our home has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a loft which will make an awesome playroom. The nursery already has a shelf filled with books and a special spot for reading together. We have a fenced backyard, and one day, we see it having a swing set and sandbox. What fun projects those will be to work on together!
We find such wisdom in the proverb – it takes a village to raise a child. We are fortunate to have a village filled with family and friends. They are all really excited about our plan to adopt. Not only are the just incredible people who are always there for us – they have many gifts like teaching, medicine, engineering, counseling and more. Having them around is better than Google! We have a blast celebrating, taking trips and enjoying meals together. We look forward to introducing traditions like building gingerbread houses at Christmas, planting flowers at Easter, and fireworks on the 4th and starting new ones. We would love to learn about your favorite traditions, so we can help pass those along too.
Thank you for taking time to look through our profile book. We hope it gave you a glimpse into who we are and who we hope to be as parents.
We want you to know that we will always remember that it was your great love and strength who helped to make our dream come true. And, we promise that you will forever have a special place in your child’s life story and ours. It is very important to us that you always feel that you can know your baby is loved, safe and happy. You won’t have to wonder. We will be as open as you are comfortable with regarding letters, photos, visits and videos. We would be honored to connect with you. We are happy to answer any questions you have for us. We would be delighted get to know you and hear about the hopes and dreams you have for yourself and your baby.

Christian – We believe God has a plan and path for each of us. Sometimes those are vivid and exciting, but at times, they can be really hard to see and even harder to understand. We rely on faith and love give us with the strength needed to keep going.
Our home has plenty of room for a growing family and lots of space to play outside. Our dogs, Barkley and Baxter, adore children and love to greet guests when they arrive.
Our family is incredible! They are thrilled we are adopting and are already planning things they want to do with and for your baby. In addition to our family in the traditional sense of the word, we both have very supportive work families.
