¡Hola desde Oregón en el noroeste del Pacífico! Hello from Oregon in the Pacific Northwest! We are a fun-loving couple who has been together for about 5 years, and we are so excited to finally become first-time parents through adoption! We love going on road trips and traveling to new places any chance we get. Driving to the Oregon Coast, heading up to Mt. Hood, or adventuring in eastern Oregon are just a few of the things we love to do. We look forward to hearing from you and are excited to get to know you!
A Little About Us
We met at a Halloween party that a mutual friend of ours was having and we were dressed up as Batman and Rosie the Riveter! We started dating after getting to know each other more through a small group at church, and we got married shortly after that! What brought us to adoption is our strong desire to become parents and our love for children. We’ve both always wanted children, but since trying to start our family, we’ve experienced unexplained infertility, so being able to welcome children into our lives through adoption would be a dream come true for us!
We love spending quality time together, and here are some more of our favorite things to do:
- Watch all types of movies (except horror)
- Hang out with friends and family
- Play games
- Go on walks
- Go to local concerts
When baby arrives, we are really looking forward to:
- Taking time off to bond with them and get to know them
- Teaching them all about the world and discovering their likes & dislikes
- Sharing all of our favorite foods with them
- Sharing music and dancing with them
- Sharing adventures with them
- Sharing the festivities of the holidays with them!
About Nicole Rose (By Andrew)
What I love about Nicole Rose is her deeply caring nature. She always has words of encouragement or a listening ear for those that need it. She is kind, compassionate, empathetic, creative, funny, and she has an amazing laugh! Nicole Rose is currently working on her Bachelor’s degree in Worship studies, and loves to lead others in worship at church. She is an amazing musician/vocalist and loves to use her gifts to help others grow closer to Jesus!
Nicole Rose loves to:
- Sing, play guitar & piano, and write music
- Read
- Make jewelry
- Paint
- Bake
- Hang out with family & friends
- Go on adventures (like to the beach)
Nicole Rose is excited to spend time with our future children as a stay-at-home mom, and is looking forward to sharing her love of music and art with them, reading to them, teaching them Spanish, and showing them God’s everlasting love!
About Andrew (By Nicole Rose)
What I love most about Andrew is how passionate he is about connecting with people and showing them Jesus in every part of his life. He is funny, outgoing, and can talk to anyone about pretty much anything! Andrew works for the county Sheriff’s Department as a Sheriff’s Deputy on patrol. He likes being able to keep the community safe, and helping people out on the worst days of their lives.
When Andrew’s not working, he loves:
- Going skiing
- Playing board games & video games
- Hanging out with friends & family
- Going backpacking & hiking
Andrew looks forward to sharing his love of exploring, hiking, skiing, and Star Wars with our future children, as well as teaching them about Jesus and His love for them.
Our Extended Family
We both have fairly large extended families, and both of our sets of parents are still together after over 30 years of marriage! Almost all of our extended family lives in Oregon, and we’re within driving distance of those that live in the area, so we love getting together with them whenever we can! We frequently keep in touch with our few relatives that don’t live in Oregon, and we take turns visiting when we’re able to.
Andrew has two cousins who were adopted from China, so adoption has already been a part of his family’s story! All of our extended family was so excited to hear that we had plans to adopt and they have been extremely supportive of our decision!
Some of the family traditions we’re excited to share with our future kids are:
- Day trips to the beach
- Camping (aka “glamping”)
- Getting together for family birthday parties
- Having potlucks
- Family game nights!
Our Home in Oregon
We live in a smaller, rural suburb in the Portland Metro area of Oregon. We’re currently in a 3-bedroom townhome and we chose this specific place because of its safe community feel. We absolutely love the small-town community we live in too! We have plenty of room for a nursery and for a little one to play in the living area of our townhome. We also have a small backyard and patio area for them to explore and play!
We’re excited about decorating our nursery in an under the sea and ocean theme! A couple of our favorite things about our home are its spacious and open concept feel, and that it’s cozy and inviting.
Around our community there’s lots to love:
- Lots of neighborhood parks
- Great walking paths
- Beautiful state parks/natural areas
- A cute downtown neighborhood
- A community pool
- A public library
- Baseball & soccer fields
- Gardens & farms nearby
Our Promise
We promise to love and cherish your child with all our hearts. We promise to bring them up in a Christ-centered home that shows them how valued and loved they are by us and by God. We promise to support them in the discovery and pursuit of their passions, and give them a well-rounded education that will encourage their curiosity and exploration. We value spending time with family and friends, so they will always have a huge support system surrounding them, including us, our extended family, as well as our church community and close friends. We are looking forward to all of the love, joy, laughter, and adventures that we’ll be able to have with our future children! We also promise to honor you! Your child will know their adoption story, and we will ensure that you are always talked highly of. We are excited to share photos, letters, and visits with you, but we will take your lead on how much contact you’re comfortable with!
