A Letter from Ethan & Lindsey

Hello, we are Ethan & Lindsey! We are praying for you. Thank you for considering us. Our home is built on the firm foundation that Christ is our Savior.  We are active in our church and are passionate about people. Hospitality is part of who we are. We love hosting family and friends for long weekends, barbeques, and anything in between.  Your child is already loved and prayed for by us, as well as our friends and family.

About Us

We met in December of 2015 through our roommates.  It wasn’t exactly a set up, but it worked out in our favor. Lindsey was a little more tentative and made Ethan patiently wait until June of 2016 to go out on a date with him.  The rest was history! We got married over Thanksgiving weekend in 2017-what a lot to be grateful for! Our marriage is full of balance. Ethan is a “follow the recipe” kind of guy, Lindsey is a pinch of this and a pinch of that kind of cook. Ethan has oodles of patience, Lindsey needs to pray for patience on the daily. Ethan likes to process quietly, Lindsey likes to process verbally. We love being together and balance one another well. We enjoy cooking together, going on a nightly debrief walk, hanging out with friends and family, and exploring new places. We look forward to the day we add a few more messes in the kitchen, a stroller on our walks, more chaos to the already crazy fun gatherings, and more curiosity in our exploring.

About Ethan

According to Lindsey: Ethan is a man of strong character and faith in God. He thinks through situations and does not make decisions in haste. He is kind and compassionate. Let’s remember, he waited for 6 months for me to come around and be ready to date him. Ethan loves to laugh and is laid back. He is always ready for a good time. He enjoys going boating, camping, running, and hiking. Being outside brings him a lot of joy. Ethan supports our family well by being financially stable and continuously encouraging. Kids love Ethan.  They sit on his lap and tell him stories. They grab his hand to go on a hike or explore something new. Ethan loves well and makes people feel comfortable. I’m excited to see him as a dad.  He will be a good listener and will love his children unconditionally. Ethan will teach our children to have quiet confidence, to be flexible when things don’t go their way, and to be loyal and kind.

About Lindsey

According to Ethan: The first thing that attracted me to Lindsey was her laugh and her smile; it’s contagious.  She has a “larger-than-life” personality and is welcoming to everyone. She draws people in. Lindsey enjoys cooking, baking, camping, walking, and she can usually find a teachable moment during any activity. She is well respected where she teaches, and families enjoy when their child(ren) is/are in her class. She works hard to build rapport with her students and crushes it. Lindsey is one of the hardest workers, whether at school or on church committees; she gives everything 110% and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Lindsey is going to be a great mom.  Sometimes I just assume people know this because she is a teacher. Lindsey is crafty and always has an activity up her sleeve for the kids to do. One year we had a New Years Eve party, and she did a science experiment with the kids and made fireworks in a jar. She runs a cupcake camp and chopped camp the first week of summer. Lindsey will be the best hands-on kind of mom. She will teach our children to love others, laugh loudly, and learn from their mistakes.

Our Home in Illinois

We live in a suburban town outside of a large city. Our homes are close together here, but we love our neighbors. We chat over the fence almost every day. There is a park at the end of our street that we can see from our front window. Biking to our library and community pool are some favorite summer activities. When we both get home from work on time, we enjoy going to the nature preserve and taking a walk or going for a run. We love our neighborhood and how close we are to the city. We have some family close by, which is nice. Church is an 8 minute drive away and the Christian school Lindsey teaches at is 10 minutes away.

Our Family and Friends

We both come from large extended families. Ethan is the oldest of 5 children and Lindsey is the middle of 3 children. Our families continue to grow.  We now have 4 nephews and 2 nieces. When we do get together with family, there are lots of laughs, conversations, and game playing. We live in between both sides of the family, so it works out well to travel to one or the other for the holidays.

We have great groups of friends!  We have a group from church, college, and coworkers who are more like friends.  We love to have our friends over for dinner and hanging out. Every summer we go camping with the college friends.  This group has 30 kids and 22 adults.  It’s a blast!

Our Promise

We promise to provide a home that is rooted in Christ.

We promise to provide a home where everyone feels safe and welcomed.

We promise to provide routine and structure so that each member of our family is able to reach his/her God given potential.

We promise to provide love and laughter.

We promise to remain as connected to you as you would like with phone calls, photos, videos, and visits.

We’d love to talk or answer any of your questions. Please call or text Lifetime at 1.800.923.6784.

More About Our Family
Interests We're Excited to do With Our Kids

1. Camping-we recently bought a pop-up camper, and we go camping 4-5 times each summer.
2. Sports-we both grew up playing sports.
3. Music/Musicals-we both played piano and saxophone. Lindsey was Dorothy in her 8th grade musical.
4. Sailing-Ethan was on the sail team in high school.
5. Volunteering-Lindsey is on the planning committee at church that helps direct congregation members where they might serve best. Ethan was a youth group leader for 6 years at our previous church.
6. Travel/Explore-Lindsey lived overseas in Jakarta, Indonesia for 3 years after college. Ethan participated in an overseas trip to China. Exploring God's creation is important to both of us.

Our Faith

Central to who we are is our faith in Jesus Christ. Teaching and showing our children the love of God is the best way we know how to raise them.

Fun Facts

1. Each year we buy a cookbook and try to cook through it.
2. We believe we've found the perfect getaway for spring break-a quiet beach in Florida.
3. Most nights we walk the perimeter of our neighborhood.
4. Ethan grew up with golden retrievers. Lindsey didn't have any animals, but was able to take riding lessons on a friend's horse.

Why We Love Camping

People usually take sides when it comes to camping. YES-we love camping or NO-camping isn't for us. We both grew up camping. Ethan's family camps in tents and Lindsey's family is off the ground a little bit in a pop-up or tent camper. We had a tent to camp in as well...until this summer! We just upgraded to a '97 Jayco pop-up camper. Sleeping off the ground is awesome.
We love camping because there is never a dull moment. You can go hike, go to the beach, build a sandcastle, cook a delicious meal over the fire, roast marshmallows, catch frogs by the creek, relax, read a book, and truly enjoy creation God has given us.

In Closing

We know that God's plans are better than ours and can't wait to see how He grows our family. Our home is filled with love, joy, good cooking, and a healthy amount of competition. We're excited to share that with the children God places in our home and we are open to stay as connected as you'd like.
