A Letter from John & Chaz
Our lives are based on love and we promise to love your child unconditionally.
Our close-knit, rambunctious household is a great place to grow up in. We’re energetic parents who love to travel, learn new things, and have fun. We are thrilled to grow our family through adoption. Our kids are excited to have a sibling to dote on and our entire extended family is thrilled to welcome your child!
We’ve been married for 11 years and we love to make each other laugh. One of our favorite songs by Jack Johnson is “Better Together” and it describes our life. We have two children in the home, Lucas (11) and Sadie (9), and two adult boys, Elijah and Jeremiah, living on their own. We love spending time together as a family- be it the two, four or six of us! We enjoy reading aloud together, taking walks and bike rides around the neighborhood, and, in the summer, we enjoy going to the pool. We love being active and going on adventures outside- camping, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and more! We both like to read good books aloud to Lucas and Sadie almost every day. We are so excited to teach your child everything we know and look forward to reading to them every night!
John is my best friend. His gentle and kind spirit was what first attracted me to him. He’s a wonderful father and husband who cares deeply about his family. John is dependable, honest, trustworthy, continues to grow spiritually, and always seeks to do what is right. He’s got a great sense of humor, loves cracking jokes and his favorite thing to do is play the guitar! When he’s not working, he enjoys wrestling with the kids and cooking delicious meals. His signature meal is gourmet quesadillas. During family movie nights, he pops up a giant bowl of popcorn the old fashion way on the stovetop.
He’s an expert at building things and is excited to teach our next child how to put Lego sets together, dollhouses, and more! He looks forward to teaching them how to build a campfire, roast a perfect marshmallow, and teach them how to play the guitar.
Chaz loves every part of being a mother. From snuggles to reading bedtime stories, telling jokes to helping them fall back to sleep after a bad dream- Chaz is a natural! She’s a wonderful wife and homemaker who is full of energy, love for God, and has a zest for life. She finds joy in small things and laughs often.
She is passionate about education and loves to read. She always makes sure there are interesting books around for herself and the kids and is excited to teach our next child the joy of reading as well! Chaz also found it important for one to know how to prepare healthy meals and delicious snacks, so she is looking forward to teaching our next child this important life skill. While cooking in the kitchen, she likes to have music playing and always enjoys dancing with the kids!
Our spacious, 4 bedroom home is in the same town Chaz grew up in. We get all the conveniences of the big city like the local zoo, museums and cool sites, while living in a smaller community. We have over an acre of land with woods and a shallow creek in our backyard which allows us a great look into nature. Our front yard has an awesome hill for sledding. Our area gets all four seasons and we live close enough to mountains and beaches to enjoy them all!
We have 4 wonderful children! Jeremiah, our oldest, lives one town over and is a talented musician and artist. He enjoys coming over and teaching the kids how to draw and make music. Elijah, our second oldest, is lively, athletic and lives in the same town as us and visits often to play games. Our daughter, Sadie (9) enjoys baking in the kitchen with mom, drawing, and writing stories. Lucas (11), is a happy, kind little boy who loves to run and play outside. Our kids are all so excited to welcome your child into the family!
Chaz has a large extended family, they all live nearby and we get together often. Going on big family vacations together is so fun! We spend all the holidays together and have family Gingerbread House parties during Christmas and Pumpkin Painting parties around Halloween. Going to church with Chaz’s parents and eating brunch together is one of our favorite weekly traditions.
We promise to surround your child with a safe, stable home, and to love them now and forever. We promise to teach them about God’s love and to provide them with a good education so they have every opportunity to reach their full potential. We look forward to teaching your child how to read, how to express themselves, and the importance of family. We will be silly together as a family, spend quality time together, and support one another through life. Adoption runs throughout our families in many ways, so you’ll always be spoken of with respect and honor. You will always be important to us.

|More About Our Family|
Gazing up at the stars together on warm summer nights is amazing. Whenever we go on trips, we always make it a point to go outside after dark and look at the sky. The first time we did this together, we were still dating and Chaz saw her first shooting star. Right then, she knew she was going to marry John someday.
Our faith in God is strong. In fact, faith is what led us to this adoption journey.
We belong to a large church that has an awesome kids’ program. The Bible is a big part of lives. We know it, read it and live it out as best as we best we can. One of our favorite verses is Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation in Christ Jesus”.
|Our Musical Interest|
Chaz prefers happy music. Some favorite artists are Bob Marley, Norah Jones, Erika Badu, India Arie. Lately she’s been getting into bluegrass-inspired music like Mumford and Sons. We do a lot of dance parties in the kitchen to Pharrell William’s “Happy” or Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling”. Chaz also likes classical music and plays it in the house often.
|About Our Home|
We have remodeled most everything in our home and made it our own. This really gives us the feeling of home and comfort and peace every time we walk through its doors. There’s plenty of space for everyone and it never feels cluttered.
|Our Children||We have four wonderful children! Chaz had 2 kids years before we met, so two of them are already grown adults. Jeremiah, the oldest, is an artist. He’s crazy talented and he works as a graphic designer. Elijah loves basketball and motorcycles. He’s always energetic and upbeat. Lucas and Sadie are younger. Lucas loves climbing trees and being outside. Sadie loves to bake and ride horses. They are both in elementary school and we homeschool them. We do a cool thing called Classical Conversations which means we do school at home for 4 days a week and go to school with other amazing kids 1 day a week. We love being able to teach them everything we know.|
|Our state and Neighborhood||Virginia. Chaz has deep roots in Virginia. Her family has lived in the same area for many generations. We love our neighborhood! We are close to everything but nestled in a wooded area. Our neighborhood is safe and friendly and has tons of room for play. It's a great place to grow up in.|
