“To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge. To do the will of God is the greatest achievement.”
-George Truett

If you believe that God is calling you to adoption and you are sure of it, then that’s wonderful. But, what if you are not sure if this is what God wants you to do? Even if you are sure, there are many couples who feel led by God to adoption but try to put it off for many reasons. Are you one of them? Maybe the adoption costs seem prohibitive or you don’t feel confident of your ability to love a child that is not biologically yours. So, how do you know you are in God’s perfect will?

The well-known Bible teacher, F.B.Meyer, was on a ship one night. It was a stormy night and he wondered if the captain of the ship will be able to safely steer the big ship into the narrow dock. When he asked the captain, the captain explained that there were three red lights on the shore and when they were all in a straight line, he knew it was the right time to steer the ship into the dock. This led Meyer to derive a parallel with finding God’s will: When we want to know God’s will, there are three things which always occur: the inward impulse, the Word of God, and the trend of circumstances.… Never act until these three things agree.

If you are considering adoption, then take the time to find out if this is part of God’s plan and purpose for you. Once you get the go-ahead from above, it is time to learn about the adoption choices that are available. Take time to educate yourself about Christian adoption and equip yourself with accurate information. Christian adoption can give you an opportunity to expand God’s Kingdom by sharing His love and your love with a child for a lifetime. So, pray about it and take that tiny step of faith.
