“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!”
-Habakkuk 2:3 LB

After you made the decision to follow the dream of adoption that God placed in your heart, you can expect a wait. This is another step toward building your faith. He won’t fulfill your dream instantly.

In Habakkuk 2, God says, “These things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled” (Habakkuk 2:3 LB).

When delay comes to your dreams of adopting a baby, you might start asking a question such as “When, Lord? When will you answer my prayer?!”

In our modern times of social media and instant gratification, we hate to wait. We don’t like to wait in traffic jams, in the doctor’s office, at restaurants, or for anything else. But what you may hate most of all is waiting on God.

All of us have to go through these waiting periods. Think of Jesus; He waited for 30 years in the carpenter’s shop before going out on his public ministry.

Why is it required that we wait? It shows us to trust in the Lord. What we discover is that His timing is perfect. One of the facts we need to get is that God’s delay never destroys His purpose.

Experiencing a delay does not mean your prayers are being denied. Just as children need to learn the difference between “no” and “not yet,” we do too. Many times it happens that we believe God is telling us “No,” when He is actually saying, “Not yet.”
